Why is my PC suddenly asking for a password that I didn’t set up?

I'm really confused because every time I turn on my PC, it shows a black screen with a password box in the middle, along with the words IIISI™. I never set up any password, and I can't even get to the operating system. Any ideas on what could be causing this?

Just a heads up, I noticed some comments about rules around here. But honestly, this seems like a BIOS or BitLocker password issue instead of something related to community guidelines. You might want to explore recovery options specifically for those.

Have you had any Microsoft support people log into your computer to troubleshoot anything? That could lead to unexpected changes.

Is it a boot password? Can you access the BIOS settings? Sometimes, a prankster could sneak in and set a password. Think back, have you updated your firmware recently? If not, and you can’t even get into BIOS, that’s concerning.

It sounds like you might be facing a BIOS or UEFI password issue. If you find out the model number of your motherboard, you could check the manual online for any password hints or recovery options. It would also help if you could share your specs for better advice!
