I have a PC with 64 GB of RAM, and I'm noticing it's using between 45-47 GB even when I'm not actively doing much. I have both Chrome and Firefox open, which take around 22-23 GB total, but I can't figure out what's using the extra 20+ GB. Any ideas?

It's possible that some of the RAM is simply allocated and not actively used. Windows pays attention to potential needs and keeps some memory on standby. Unused RAM doesn’t really help anyone, so don’t worry too much about it.
If you're seeing such high memory usage, maybe look at how many tabs you have open. 22 GB seems a bit excessive, unless you have a ton of tabs. Check Resource Monitor; it can show you exactly what’s hogging the RAM.
It’s likely that the system is reserving some of the RAM for background processes or caching. Windows sometimes keeps memory allocated for future use, so it may not always be a problem. Just check the Task Manager to see what might be running in the background.
Yeah, exactly! Sometimes it's just how Windows manages memory, and a lot can be reserved without actually being used.

Right?! I’d suggest checking that first. It can provide a clearer picture of which applications are really consuming memory.
