Why is my PC’s WiFi so much slower than my phone’s?

I just moved into a new apartment and got Fios WiFi installed. My phone's speed tests are consistently around 80 Mbps for both download and upload, which is great. However, my PC is struggling really badly; its download speeds fluctuate between 80 Kbps and 1.5 Mbps, mostly hovering around 300 Kbps. There's only one wall between the router and my PC, and no metal objects in between. I've checked the device manager to ensure all my drivers are updated and I've scanned for malware, but everything seems fine. I know iPhones tend to perform better, but I'm starting to think something's wrong with my PC. Any thoughts on how to fix it?

It's possible that your PC is facing interference from other devices or just a bad signal due to its setup compared to your phone. Consider switching to the 5 GHz band if your router supports it for better performance. Also, updating your WiFi drivers could help clear up any issues.

Your PC might be using an older WiFi standard than your phone. Check the age of your PC's WiFi adapter compared to your phone. Sometimes, hardware limitations can really hold back performance. If your PC is an older model, it might be time to look into a newer adapter to improve speeds.

My phone is 3-4 years old and my PC is about 4 and a half. Is upgrading the PC the only way to fix this or can I tweak some settings?

Did you connect the WiFi antennas when setting up your PC after the move? These can definitely affect signal strength. If they weren't attached properly, that could explain your slow speeds! Also, sometimes, the placement of your PC in relation to the router makes a difference too.

I took the antennas off for the move but reattached them afterward. Do you think it might just be time to buy a new WiFi card since it's also about 4 and a half years old?
