Hey folks, I could really use your help with a heating issue I'm experiencing with my PS5. It's just over a year old, and unfortunately, I just missed the warranty by a couple of days. Recently, I've noticed that it started blowing out extremely hot air from the vent at the back. I also have a metal mic plugged into the back, which gets scorching hot to the touch—I can't even hold my finger on it for more than a second! I've already vacuumed the inside, thinking it might be a dust issue, but that didn't solve it. I even took it to UBreakIFix, but they couldn't figure it out either. To make things worse, I can actually smell smoke coming from the back of the console. Has anyone else run into this problem? Any advice would be very much appreciated!

No worries about posting here, we’ve all been there! Just make sure to take good care of your gaming setup and keep an eye on the cooling. If the fans aren’t working right, that’s definitely a big sign! And don't try to reapply heatsinks if you’re not sure what they are—might end up making things worse!
First things first, check if the fans in your PS5 are spinning when the console is on. If they're not, that could be causing the overheating problem. You might also want to look into the heatsinks; reapplying thermal paste can sometimes help, but be careful because if you take off the heatsink, you need to know what you're doing. Many people suggest that the PS5 uses liquid metal instead of regular thermal paste. So, if you’re not comfortable with that, it might be worth leaving it to a pro!
