I've been having some trouble with my Razer Blade 14 (2021) as it keeps defaulting to the integrated GPU instead of using the dedicated RTX 3080. I've tried updating drivers, BIOS, and Windows, but nothing seems to work. When I run benchmarks, the RTX 3080 shows brief activity for about 10-15 seconds before switching back to the integrated GPU. Razer quoted me around £800 for repairs on this 5-year-old laptop. Has anyone else experienced this, and if so, what solutions did you find? I'm really at a loss and would appreciate any advice!

I had a similar issue once, and it turned out to be a thermal problem. When components overheat, they can trip, leading to the fallback to the iGPU. It's a good idea to monitor your temperatures during use. If it's overheating, you might need to clean out the fans and thermal paste. But if replacing the motherboard is your only option, definitely get a second opinion from a repair shop."
It sounds like a power delivery issue related to the motherboard. The fact that it flips to the integrated GPU when the load increases suggests there might be a problem with the components that manage power for the 3080. Before giving up, try doing a clean driver uninstall using DDU, and also check your battery for any signs of bloating—this can mess with power stability. If those don’t help and it still switches to the iGPU, you might be looking at a deeper issue that a specialized repair shop could fix for less than Razer's quote. Gaming laptops can really struggle after years of heavy use, especially if cooling has been inadequate.

Thanks for the tips! I’ll definitely check the temps and clean the fans. Just hope it isn’t a motherboard issue!
