I recently built a new PC and specified the components below. While playing some of the latest games, I noticed that the frame rates are lower than expected. After looking up benchmarks, I found that my scores fall 10%-15% below those of others with similar setups. I ran some benchmarks, including Cinebench for the CPU, which performed fine. However, in Unigine Superposition, my GPU only scored 12,398 at 4K optimized settings, which is below the average. The GPU's thermals stayed under 72°C during stress tests. I purchased this card used from eBay, and it's the HP model. Should I consider getting a refund to buy a different card, or could the issue be that it needs better thermal pads or something else? I'm even questioning if this is a legitimate 3080. Any advice would be great!

Since your temps are looking good, have you considered overclocking your GPU? It might help boost those performance numbers!
Have you checked your GPU with the GPU-Z program? It's a good tool to confirm that your card is indeed a 3080 and that it’s not missing any components. Just to rule out any spoofing issues!
I just took a look at it, and everything checks out fine. I appreciate the suggestion!
You might want to roll back to older drivers, like version 566.xx. NVIDIA's recent updates have had issues that could affect performance. So it’s worth trying!
I tried the older drivers (566.36) but my score actually dropped by 300 points. Looks like that's not the issue, but thanks for the help!
Check to see if your GPU is using its full 320-watt power budget. Also, consider looking at other heat sensors like hotspot and memory temperatures.
If you're using the HP model, it might have a limited power cap, which could explain those lower scores. If it were a fake GPU, you'd likely see much worse performance overall.
I plan to try overclocking soon. I know 72°C isn't too hot for a 3080, but I wonder if there's some throttling happening that I can't see.
