Why Is My RX 6600 XT Only Running at 50% GPU Usage in CS2?

I recently upgraded to an RX 6600 XT and I'm using it with an R5 Pro 4650G. I know there's a bottleneck in my system since I'm planning to sell my CPU for an upgrade. In CS2, I'm noticing some performance metrics that worry me:

- The GPU temperature is stable at around 50°C.
- The GPU usage hovers around 55% most of the time.
- The CPU usage is at about 45%.
- I'm getting variable FPS that ranges from 130 to 200, with some occasional drops.

I want to cap the FPS at 200, even if it means increasing the GPU usage to around 80%. Interestingly, when I'm in smoke, the GPU usage spikes to 85% and the CPU usage goes up to 70%.

In other games, it seems that both my GPU and CPU run at around 80% usage. What should I do about this?

You're right about the CPU! It often hits higher usage during intensive scenes like smoke. Just monitor your cores individually rather than just the overall CPU percentage. You'll likely find a few are maxed out while others are chilling.

I checked it out, and it’s not maxing out anything. Guess I need to figure out what's going on!

It looks like you're experiencing a CPU bottleneck, especially since CS2 doesn't utilize all cores efficiently. I've had the same kind of behavior with my Ryzen CPUs. You can check which individual cores are maxed out; that might give you a clearer picture of what's restricting your performance.

I did check some YouTube footage, and folks with similar setups were pushing higher FPS with both GPU and CPU usage around 80%. What gives?

I noticed that too! It seems like some setups just hit better efficiency, possibly due to better optimization or settings.

Yeah, it definitely sounds like your CPU is what’s holding you back. CS2 can be pretty CPU-intensive, and if certain cores are being over-utilized, that can really cap your performance. Just keep an eye on individual core loads for the best insight.

I skimmed through some videos, but still, my usage seems lower than what they’re showing. What could be different?
