Why is my SSD acting up?

I've had my SSD for less than two months and it's been working great until recently. Lately, I've noticed it running really slowly at times, showing unreadable folders, and even disappearing completely. I'm using it to play large games like Final Fantasy 14 and Baldur's Gate 3, and it's only about 25% full. Just yesterday, one of the games wouldn't launch because it said some files were missing. When I tried to access the game folder, it was unreadable. After restarting my PC, everything worked fine again, but then today, I opened a game and it was loading super slowly. WizTree was scanning it slowly too, when it usually scans instantly. I even tried booting into BIOS for five minutes, and the drive became accessible again, but performance was still slow. What's going on? Am I at risk of losing my data, or is this a temporary issue?

Sounds like a failing SSD to me. If you can, get a refund or a warranty replacement without hesitation. Honestly, you shouldn’t use it for anything important. If it fails, you can always redownload games, but personal files could be lost forever!

It definitely sounds like your SSD may be having some health issues. First thing you should do is check its status using Crystal Disk Info to see how the drive is holding up. You can also run an extended test with GSmartControl if you want a deeper dive. If nothing shows up wrong, maybe try a different cable? But keep an eye out for irregularities just in case.

I doubt a different cable will help much if it’s an M.2 drive, right? Seems like a more serious issue.

Honestly, Team Group SSDs aren't known for their reliability. Yours is rated in the lower tier for quality. I’d consider getting a more reliable brand if you can.
