Why Is My Steam Download Speed So Slow Compared to Epic?

Hey everyone! I'm having some trouble with my download speeds on Steam. I've noticed that my speed goes up to about 15 MB/s but then drops to 0, and it's only happening on Steam. Other platforms like Epic Games are downloading just fine at over 500 MB/s. I'm using an Ethernet connection, and I've cleared my cache multiple times. Any ideas on what could be causing this? Thanks for your help!

It could be an issue with your computer's performance. Steam downloads files in chunks that need to be decompressed, and this process can be quite heavy on the CPU. If your computer isn’t handling decompression fast enough, it can cause delays. Make sure your RAM and clock speed are optimized for better performance!

What can I do to improve that? I have 32 gigs of RAM; does that help?

You might want to try changing your Steam download server location in the settings. Sometimes switching to a different server can help improve speeds, especially if the current server is crowded.
