Why is my Surface Pro 6 Using 60% Memory and Heating Up?

I've noticed that my Microsoft Surface Pro 6, which has a Core i5 8th gen processor, 8GB of RAM, and a 128GB SSD, is using around 60% of its memory even when only the performance monitor is running. It's also getting quite hot. Does anyone know why this is happening and how I can fix it?

You're correct that 60% usage can happen due to how Windows pages memory. It tries to be efficient by caching files in RAM. However, the heating could be because of accumulated dust obstructing airflow. You might want to clean out the air intakes to help cool things down.

Yea, I checked the air intake and it was really dusty. Thanks for the heads up!

It sounds like you're maxing out the RAM since Windows 11 doesn't run super well on just 8GB. If you're looking for a smooth experience, you might want to consider going back to Windows 10, which could help with performance.
