Why is my vendor asking for DKIM records for their email service?

I'm currently working with a new vendor whose service will send email alerts to our internal staff frequently. It's crucial that these emails don't get marked as junk or spam. The vendor has requested that we add two DKIM records to our DNS to help 'prevent spoofing'. We already have DKIM set up for our own domain and email service. I don't quite understand why they want these additional records for their email service, and I'm struggling to find a reason online. I've asked the vendor, but they only said it's to 'prevent spoofing', which is still unclear to me. Can anyone clarify?

Basically, the vendor wants their emails to be verified as authentic when they come from their servers. Adding DKIM records for them allows them to sign their emails in a way that recipients can trust, since it verifies their origin. It's about ensuring their emails don't get flagged as spam since they'll be sending alerts frequently.

From what I understand, DKIM authenticates the source of the email to avoid it being marked as spam. If they need to send emails from their servers, they'll need these records to ensure successful delivery. If the emails appear to be from your domain, even if they're not, you'll want those records to make sure they don't fail DKIM checks.

It’s a good idea for them to send emails from a specific subdomain that you manage. That way, you can set up the required SPF, DKIM, and DMARC records specifically for that vendor, which makes it easier to manage their email security.
