Why is my Windows laptop battery draining so quickly?

My laptop used to last about 4-5 hours with normal use, but lately it barely reaches 2 hours, sometimes even less. I haven't changed anything significant, aside from a Windows update a couple of weeks ago. I've checked the battery settings, which seem fine since I'm on 'balanced' mode, and I closed some background apps, but it hasn't made much of a difference. Can anyone suggest what I might be missing? Are there any settings or apps that might be draining the battery faster than usual? Also, how can I tell if the battery is dying without needing to take my laptop apart?

First, check your battery health. You can easily find guides online on how to do this. Some laptops come with built-in software for battery checks, so see if yours has that option. Also, ensure you're not accidentally set to 'Maximum performance' mode—that can really drain your battery fast.

Don't forget to check for the battery report using `powercfg /batteryreport`. This will show you details like 'design capacity' versus 'full charge capacity', which can help you understand if your battery is losing capacity.

Make sure to dive into your settings. Look for 'Battery Usage' to see if a specific app is causing excessive drain. If you're curious about the battery health, you can run a command in the command prompt: just type 'cmd' in the search bar, then paste: `powercfg /batteryreport`. This generates a report you can check for details on your battery's health and capacity.
