Why is Secure Boot showing as enabled but not active?

I'm seeing that Secure Boot is enabled in BIOS, but it says it's not active. My system is running in UEFI mode with a GPT drive, and I believe TPM 2.0 is enabled. Do I need to install the default Secure Boot keys, or should I try switching it to custom and then back to standard? What steps can I take to fix this issue?

If you already have Windows 11 installed on your prebuilt PC and Secure Boot is showing as not active, that's a bit odd. You might want to check if your BIOS settings are all correct. Sometimes, even if it says it's enabled, it might not be configured properly. It could help to reset the keys or maybe even update your BIOS if there's an available update.

Secure Boot won't actually activate until you install an operating system that configures it properly. If you haven't done that yet, it's a smart move to reset the Secure Boot keys first. Also, make sure that anything legacy or CSM is disabled in the BIOS for Secure Boot to work. TPM definitely needs to be on, but you should check your BIOS settings to confirm just in case.
