I recently installed Kubuntu and during the setup, the terminal prompts me for my password when I try to use the sudo command. I'm entering my password correctly (I know it's hidden for security), but it's failing to authenticate. I'm certain my password is just regular ASCII text. Can anyone help me troubleshoot this?

When entering your password for sudo, make sure it’s the same as your login password. Sometimes issues pop up due to keyboard settings; check if Num Lock is on or if you accidentally pressed Caps Lock. It's also worth using the top number row instead of the numeric keypad. If all else fails, you might want to boot from a live USB and chroot into your system to reset your password.
Just a heads up, your sudo password should match your account password, not the root password. If that's not working, there might be a problem with how you've set those up. If you set up a different password for sudo, try that.
