Why is there no ‘grown-up mode’ for OpenAI tools despite calls for it?

Many users feel the filtering is too strict, making it difficult for adults to engage in creative writing, roleplaying, or storytelling. While it's important to protect minors, I believe there should be a way for adults to explore mature themes without overly rigid restrictions.

In writing and roleplay, many themes get blocked that could help show emotional depth and connection, which doesn't always serve as shock value or pornography. For instance, romantic and intimate scenes are often harshly filtered, despite their significance in storytelling. On the other hand, violence is often allowed for analysis, which feels like an inconsistent application of moderation.

I understand OpenAI's concerns about preventing inappropriate content; that's why I propose a verified adult opt-in system. This would allow adults to explore content appropriately while maintaining protections for younger users. The idea is to give people agency over the content they see without a one-size-fits-all filter, allowing for more nuanced storytelling.

Additionally, I suggested introducing an AICM (Adaptive Intensity Consent Mode) feature to help manage the type of content users would prefer to interact with during creative sessions. This could create a more respectful storytelling environment while still prioritizing emotional safety and connection. I'm eager for OpenAI to consider approaches that allow for a richer exploration of human emotions in storytelling.
