Why is Windows 11 freezing and failing to POST on reboot?

I've got an AMD Ryzen 9 3950X setup running Windows 11, but I'm dealing with some weird issues. Everything was fine while working from home, but after a grocery run, my system froze on the login screen and wouldn't respond, so I rebooted. On reboot, my monitor showed no display, and the motherboard debug LED lit up, indicating a problem with the GPU, PCIe, or M.2 device. After several attempts, I finally got a display, but it only showed a blinking cursor without progressing to the BIOS. Eventually, I managed to get it to POST, but I've been wondering if my SSD is failing, especially since I successfully created a full image of it with Clonezilla. I already ran Memtest86 overnight with no issues, so I'm ruling out RAM. What's going on? Any insights?

You could definitely have a drive issue, either with your SATA or M.2 drives. Sometimes these can cause no POST or BIOS access. I had a similar problem with my Samsung 980 drive that led to blue screens because the drive just dropped out of the system. A full power cycle was the only way to get it to work again.

Keep in mind that the VGA light could be signaling various problems, not just with your GPU. It might also indicate issues with the PCIe slots or other devices. If you're able, try unplugging drives one by one to see if that lets you progress further during boot. It might help identify where the actual issue lies.

It sounds like there might be an issue with your GPU or possibly its connection. The fact that the VGA light was on suggests that the motherboard isn't detecting the GPU properly. It could be worth reseating your graphics card to make sure it's securely in its slot. Windows could take longer to boot when it can't detect the GPU correctly, as it has to load generic drivers instead of the specific ones for your card.
