Why Is Windows Hello Not Working After Installing Linux?

I recently installed Fedora on my laptop, and everything seems to be running smoothly. However, I've encountered a problem when I switch back to Windows: Windows Hello isn't functioning properly. The fingerprint setup screen just shows a black area, and I'm unable to use my PIN for anything. I've already turned off both secure boot and fast boot, but I can't seem to find a solution. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated!

I've had similar issues! What worked for me was resetting the Windows Hello settings. You can go to Settings > Accounts > Sign-in options, and then look for Windows Hello features to reconfigure them. Just keeping secure boot on the whole time might help too!

Are you using the original installation media for Windows? Sometimes, having the right drivers in place or reinstalling Windows can resolve these odd conflicts after a dual boot setup. Just a thought!

For Windows Hello to work, make sure that secure boot is enabled in your BIOS settings. If you’ve done that and are still facing issues, there might be some compatibility problems due to the dual boot setup. Sometimes, Windows can get a bit quirky after installing Linux. You might want to try removing and re-adding your fingerprint device in the settings.
