Hey everyone! I'm having some trouble getting my old HDD to show up after I installed a new WD Black SN7100 1TB NVMe SSD in my Acer desktop. My old SSD is a Kingston model, and I've tried connecting the HDD to all three SATA ports on my motherboard, but it still doesn't appear. I switched the BIOS setting from RST with Optane to AHCI, but then Windows wouldn't boot. When I switched it back, Windows booted fine. I'm not quite sure what else to do here, so any advice would be appreciated. Let me know if you need any more info!

Since it's a prebuilt motherboard, sometimes those can be tricky! Have you tried removing the new NVMe SSD and checking if the HDD shows up again? Changing to IDE from AHCI means your Windows installation is in IDE mode, which might be impacting things. If the HDD shows up without the NVMe, it could mean that the SATA ports get disabled when the NVMe is plugged in. This is a common setup with some motherboards nowadays.

Got it! I'll try taking out the NVMe and see if the HDD appears. Might be time for a motherboard upgrade eventually.
