I recently got a new monitor and switched from using an HDMI cable to the DisplayPort cable that came with it, as I've heard it's supposed to provide better performance. However, I have a feeling that my system isn't making use of my GPU correctly. I'm not very tech-savvy, so any suggestions on what to check or try would be appreciated! I've attempted switching the cable ends and used all the DP ports on my PC. My task manager shows only GPU0, which is a bit concerning.

If your GPU isn’t recognized, it could be due to a few reasons. Start by ensuring that your drivers are up to date. Sometimes old drivers can cause conflicts, so using Display Driver Uninstaller (DDU) to remove old drivers and then reinstalling the new ones could help. You should also check if the GPU is seated properly in the slot and make sure all power cables are firmly connected, both to the GPU and the power supply. Worst case, the GPU might be defective, but let’s hope that’s not the issue!
Just wanted to share that I followed your advice, and uninstalling the old drivers did the trick! Thanks a bunch!
Have you checked if the DisplayPort or HDMI is plugged into your graphics card instead of the motherboard? This can happen, and it's a common mistake that can lead to issues like the one you’re experiencing. Just a tip!
Yeah, I had the same problem when I built my son’s PC! Make sure it’s connected to the right port, or it can cause confusion.
Good point! I've made that mistake before myself, so it’s definitely worth double-checking.

That makes sense! However, my GPU was fine with my old monitor, so I’m puzzled about the new one not connecting.
