I'm having trouble getting my PC to connect to Ethernet. I've plugged the cable in, but nothing seems to work. The connection doesn't show up in either Device Manager or Network Connections. The last time I managed to enable Ethernet, it didn't function properly either (I can provide a picture if needed). It feels like my PC doesn't recognize that the hardware is present, even though I know it is. I'm starting to wonder if there's a driver issue or something else going on.

Have you checked that everything is connected correctly? Sometimes, the Ethernet port can be tricky. Also, was it working before, or is this your first time setting up Ethernet?
Make sure that your network card is properly recognized. Since you mentioned that your PC is pre-built, check if there's a 'generic X device' in Device Manager or any disabled devices. Sometimes, onboard Ethernet can have issues that are fixed by reinstalling drivers.
Could you let us know the model of your motherboard? If it uses the RTL8111H LAN chipset, you can download the drivers from Realtek's website to ensure everything is up to date.
It sounds like you might be missing the necessary drivers. If your Ethernet adapter isn’t showing up at all, you might need to connect to the internet via another method temporarily to download the drivers needed.
It sounds like you might be dealing with a driver issue. Check your Device Manager under Network Interfaces to see if you can find the Ethernet adapter. If it's not there, you might need to reinstall your chipset drivers. This can usually help get things recognized again.
