Why isn’t my PCIe to NVMe SSD adapter card being recognized by my PC?

Hey there! I recently bought a Concentronic EMRICK04B PCIe to NVMe SSD adapter and a Samsung 990 EVO PLUS M.2 NVMe SSD to upgrade my old Ryzen 5-1600 build. I installed the SSD into the dedicated M slot on the adapter and plugged it into the PCIe x16 slot on my Gigabyte AB350 motherboard. I've also tried installing it in the x8 and x4 slots, but the drive isn't showing up in BIOS, Disk Manager, or Device Manager. I didn't connect a SATA cable since I thought it wasn't needed for an NVMe SSD. I checked the BIOS settings but couldn't find anything helpful either. My BIOS version is American Megatrends Inc 3003, dated 9-12-2019. Any chance someone can point me in the right direction? Thanks!

You could try temporarily installing the SSD directly into the motherboard's M.2 slot to see if it gets detected there. If it doesn’t show up, then the SSD might be faulty. Just keep in mind that doing this will require you to disconnect your current OS drive.

That's a good idea, but I’m worried about booting issues since my OS is currently on the M.2 port. I’m hesitant to switch them.

It sounds like the BIOS might not be set up to recognize that adapter. Have you checked if the motherboard has any specific settings for PCIe slots? Also, make sure you're running the latest BIOS version. Sometimes older versions have issues with newer hardware.
