Why isn’t my USB drive appearing in disk management or device manager?

I found an old USB 3.0 device that might also function as a card reader, but it's unbranded so I can't get specific support. When I plug it in, it lights up, but it doesn't show up in device manager or disk management, and tools like diskpart and rufus can't detect it either. I'm wondering if you guys have any ideas on what might be going on or how I can troubleshoot this.

That's a good point! I haven’t come across a combo device like that before, but if it does have built-in storage and it's still not detected, it may just be faulty. Maybe try a different port or computer if you can, just to rule out any hardware issues.

It sounds like it could just be a card reader and might not have any onboard storage. If it's not showing any storage in disk management without a card inside, that's expected behavior. Have you checked to see if there's an SD card or something that can be inserted?
