Can I Install Linux on My HP Chromebook 14?

I'm considering installing Linux on my HP Chromebook 14, which has an Intel Processor N100. I've never done a clean install on any PC before, and while I've put together a few systems and installed software, I'm not the most tech-savvy person. I'd prefer not to dual boot, so I'm looking for advice, suggestions, and instructions on how to proceed. What Linux distribution do you think would be the best fit for my Chromebook? Thanks in advance for your help!

The best resource is MrChromebox.tech, where they outline how to do a clean install. Just double-check if your device is supported; it usually is, but it's good to confirm by looking at the board info. This type of install requires replacing the firmware, which makes it quite clean. Once you get everything set up, you can use any Linux distro, but lightweight ones like Xubuntu could work really well for you.

It's not overly complicated, but you might need a screwdriver for the process. As for distributions, if you're unsure, Kubuntu might be a good choice as it runs smoothly on Chromebooks. Just make sure you explore which one suits your needs best!

For installing on your Chromebook, start by Googling how to install a Linux distro on your specific model. You'll want to enable Linux support in the settings under developer options. If you're thinking about replacing Chrome OS entirely, just follow the guides you find—it's a bit advanced, but definitely doable!
