Why isn’t my Windows 11 PC going to sleep as expected?

I recently built a PC and set it up so that my monitors go to sleep first, followed by the system itself. However, whenever I leave my desk for the amount of time I designated for sleep, my PC doesn't seem to go into sleep mode. Instead, the monitors turn off for a moment and then turn back on without the system actually going to sleep. I configured them to turn off after 10 minutes, but I just end up with black screens that immediately reactivate every ten minutes. I've made sure that neither my keyboard nor mouse can wake the PC from sleep. While I can manually put the PC to sleep successfully, I have to use the power button to wake it, which is the behavior I want. I'm unsure why it's not automatically sleeping after the set time.

It sounds like something is causing your PC to wake up from sleep mode. Check the settings for all connected devices, even if you think you don’t have any. Sometimes, devices like printers or USB peripherals can wake it up unexpectedly. You might also want to review your power settings in Windows and ensure everything is configured to prevent any waking signals.

I get what you're saying! Even though you might not see any active connections, wireless printers or any smart devices can still send signals. Might be worth disconnecting them temporarily just to see if that changes anything in your sleep issue.

Double-check your device manager to see if any devices have the option to wake your computer enabled. Sometimes, even a simple mouse click or a ping from a network device can interrupt sleep. It's a good idea to set everything that can wake the system to 'No.'

Thanks for the idea! I’ll go through those settings again and make sure everything is set the way it should be. I really hope this helps!
