I recently found that my Apple account was locked without warning while I was using my phone. It says it was locked for 'security reasons.' I'm given the option to verify my identity via an email link or by answering security questions, but unfortunately, I don't have access to the email or remember the answers to those questions. My main concern is, as the original owner who paid for my devices, shouldn't I be able to access my own phones? I've called Apple Support multiple times, but they say they can't help me because I lack access to the necessary email and security questions. I do have proof of purchase for my devices. Given that I'm the only one using them, shouldn't that count for something? I have an iPhone 12 and an iPhone 8 linked to this account, and I'm frustrated that there seems to be no way for them to assist me.

It’s really frustrating when companies lock you out unexpectedly. I think if you have your proof of purchase, you may still be able to do a factory reset on your devices, but just be aware that it will erase all data. Have you tried going through that process?
That sounds so frustrating! I wish companies would make it easier to recover accounts for people who obviously own the devices.
It’s hard to believe they locked you out just like that. Usually, there’s a valid reason behind these actions, even if it's not clear to you. It’s a bit strange, though, that you don’t have access to your own email or remember your security answers. Have you thought about checking with your brother to see if he still has access to that email?
Yeah, I totally get that. I heard they had to phase out security questions because too many people were forgetting them, so hopefully, they can find a way to help you.
Right? It seems unfair to leave you in the dark like this. Good luck with it!
I submitted my proof and got my approval to remove the activation lock, but it’s still saying my account is locked when I try to sign out! The support rep claimed it’s all tied to the missing email and security questions, which doesn’t help me at all.
