Why Won’t My 6+2 Pin Connector Fit into the PSU?

I'm having some trouble connecting my power supply to my GPU. The 6 pins fit perfectly, but the additional 2 pins have a little plastic piece that seems to block the entry into the power supply. I read online that this may be normal, but I'm not sure. The plastic piece actually has a slot for the GPU, which in my case is an RX 7800 XT. However, it doesn't seem to fit into my PSU, which is a Corsair RM850e. Just to clarify, my GPU requires 2x8 pins. One connection has a 6+2 setup going into a solid piece that should connect to the PSU, while the other side is a 6+2 with both ends, and it looks like the PSU won't accept that one. Any advice?

You need to use the labeled solid piece for the PSU. That’s the correct way to connect it. It sounds like the setup is a bit different from what you might expect, but just follow the manual, and you should be fine!

I agree. I checked my manual, and it states that the split ends should only be on one side. It's how mine works with the 750e PSU too.

It sounds like you might have the connector in backwards. The 6+2 side is designed to go into the GPU, while the solid piece should plug into the PSU. Double-check that!

Both sides are indeed 6+2. I could connect the PSU using a 12V 2x6 cable instead, right? Would that work?
