I recently cloned my main Windows disk using DiskGenius, but now I'm facing booting issues. After several attempts to boot from the new disk via the boot menu and adjusting the boot order, I ended up removing the old disk from the boot order. This allowed the system to attempt booting from the new disk, but unfortunately, it keeps entering error checking diagnostics and manual Windows recovery. Should I be using an OS migration tool instead of just cloning? I thought cloning would suffice to get the new disk running properly.

I’ve faced similar issues when cloning between different types of drives. If you’re moving from an HDD to an SSD or NVMe, the architecture is very different, which can cause problems. Sticking to similar types of drives usually works best. Also, don't forget to check if the necessary drivers are installed after cloning!
Creating a new boot partition could be a solution too. Sometimes, just cloning isn’t enough because the boot setup gets messed up. Try that and see if it helps!
If you still have the old drive connected, you might run into a signature collision issue because both drives could have the same SID. Disconnect the old drive and see if that resolves the problem. It could make a difference!
It sounds like your boot configuration might be messed up after the clone. This sometimes happens, so you'll want to double-check that. Trying a boot sector repair could help since sometimes that part doesn't copy over properly during cloning. Give that a shot!
