A few days ago, my laptop unexpectedly shut down just a couple of minutes after I unplugged it from the charger. It went from seemingly fine to dead in no time, and I didn't receive any low battery warning. Since then, the battery level has been stuck at 2%, but now it's dropped to 1%. While my laptop works fine when plugged in, it just won't charge anymore. I've checked that the battery health is excellent according to the Dell Boot manager, and I've also tested my charger on a similar model, which confirmed it works. I'm wondering if my frequent habit of keeping the laptop plugged in all the time has affected the battery, or if there's a deeper issue at play. Can I troubleshoot this myself or should I take it to a professional? I'm a bit of a tech novice, so any simple guidance would be appreciated!

Your laptop model should have built-in diagnostics. According to the service manual (on page 72), you can run these to check the battery health. If the diagnostics say the battery is fine but you still have issues, it might be time to look at a replacement.

When I did the diagnostic, it said my battery was healthy, which adds to my confusion.
