Why Won’t My New CPU Boot Up?

Hey everyone, I'm having some trouble with a CPU upgrade. I swapped my old i5-11400F for a new i7-11700, but now my PC won't boot. The fans and lights turn on, but the screen stays dark. When I put the old CPU back in, everything works fine. I've already tried reseating the CPU, reinserted the GPU, and even attempted shorting the CMOS pins with a screwdriver, but I'm not sure if that did anything. I updated the BIOS to the second latest version for my motherboard (ASRock B560M-C) since the newest one is a beta. I also checked the RAM sticks and disabled secure boot and TPM in the BIOS. Any suggestions on what I could do to make this work? I appreciate any help!

It sounds like you might have a dead CPU. Since both CPUs are from the same generation, the i7 should ideally work with your current BIOS. Have you tried reseating it again just to be sure? Sometimes a simple reinstallation can help.

Oh man, that sucks. Do you think it's worth removing and reinstalling the CMOS battery? It's kind of stuck on there with adhesive, though.
