Why won’t my new RX 580 GPU show up after a restart?

I recently got an RX 580 from my cousin and it seemed to work perfectly at first. After installing it in my computer, it booted up with some weird colors (everything was purple), but that sorted itself out automatically. However, after I restarted my PC, it wasn't recognized anymore, even in the BIOS. The fans and LEDs on the GPU turn on, but it doesn't show up in Windows or in the device manager. Initially, I used my HDMI cable connected to the GPU, but now I have to plug it into my motherboard to get any video output. What might be causing this issue?

It sounds like your GPU might have an issue. Sometimes they can get damaged during transport or installation. You might want to try reseating the card, just to ensure it's properly connected.

Yeah, definitely try reseating it! Also, make sure you check that the PCIe power connectors are firmly attached.

Have you installed any drivers since plugging in the GPU? If you've previously had an old GPU in the same slot, it might be conflicting with the new one. Just double-check that everything is set up correctly.

I didn't install any drivers because it worked initially. This is the first time using this GPU slot with this motherboard, so I don't think it's a driver conflict.
