Why won’t my new SSD show up in Disk Management?

I just installed a Samsung 990 EVO Plus NVMe M.2 SSD in my son's computer. It shows up in BIOS, but I can't find it in Disk Management on Windows 10. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to get it recognized?

First, make sure to check if the SSD shows up in Device Manager. If it does and the drivers are up to date, that's a good sign. From there, try doing a full restart of the PC. If it still doesn't show in Disk Management, search the ASUS support site to see if there are any updates for your chipset or storage controller that you should install.

I tried that, and the SSD showed up fine when I tested it in another PC, so it's specific to this one.

If the drive is not appearing even after trying all that, boot from a live Linux distro using a USB. This can help you check if the disk is visible. If it shows up in Linux, your issue might not be hardware-related.

What if it still doesn't show up in Linux?

Make sure the drive isn't disabled in the BIOS settings. If possible, reseat the SSD or try installing it in a different slot on the motherboard. Sometimes physical connections can cause recognition issues.
