Why won’t my old laptop boot up with Puppy Linux?

I have an old Samsung RV415 laptop with a 1.3GHz processor and 4GB of RAM. I want to install Puppy Linux (Void Puppy 64) on it, but whenever I try to boot, it goes straight into the BIOS without me pressing F2. The hard drive is recognized in the BIOS, so I know it's there. When I select the hard drive to override the boot, I get an error message saying 'REBOOT AND SELECT PROPER BOOT DEVICE OR INSERT BOOT MEDIA IN SELECTED BOOT DEVICE AND PRESS A KEY.' I skipped the installation phase for Void Puppy 64 in 32-bit, and it continues to show this error. I previously thought it was just an issue with Linux Mint, but it seems that's not the case.

You're on the right track! If it's still booting into BIOS, double-check that your installation media is actually set up correctly if you're trying to boot from a USB or other device. Ensure it’s formatted properly for the system and that Puppy Linux is properly installed on it. If the hard drive shows up in BIOS, but isn’t booting properly, you might need to perform a fresh install to ensure everything's in order.

It sounds like your laptop isn’t properly detecting the boot device. Make sure you’re selecting the correct hard drive as your primary boot device in the BIOS settings. Sometimes the boot order isn’t set correctly or it may require tweaking to recognize the Linux installation. You could also try accessing different boot options by pressing keys like F1 to F10 during startup, and see if one of those brings up booting options.
