Why won’t my Panasonic TV recognize the component cables from my DVD player?

I just got a Panasonic TV second-hand and it's been great so far, especially the HDMI connection. However, I'm having issues with the red, green, and blue cables that should connect to my DVD player. The option to switch to those inputs in the menu is grayed out, and I'm really hoping someone can help me figure out how to fix this. I have tons of DVDs, and it's frustrating not being able to use them!

You might want to look for the TV manual online if you don’t have the physical copy. Some TVs only take certain inputs from specific devices, and without the manual, we can only guess what’s compatible. Sometimes, they automatically convert inputs which can lead to confusion. So, definitely check that out!

It sounds like you're trying to connect a DVD player that uses the standard composite cables (red, white, yellow) instead of component cables (red, green, blue). Make sure your player has the right outputs for that connection—if it has the 5 RCA outputs, you need to connect the audio cables as well. Just connecting the video cables won't work alone. Check your DVD player and make sure those cables are hooked up properly.
