I was just watching Netflix when my PC suddenly turned off. Now it won't power back on at all. The only thing that lights up is the RAM RGB, but there's no fan noise or any Q-code display. Here are my specs:
- CPU: 9800X3D
- Motherboard: ROG Strix X870E-E
- RAM: 32GB DDR5 G.Skill Trident Z5
- GPU: RTX 5090 Astral
- PSU: NZXT C1200 ATX 3.1
I didn't notice any burning smells or any damaged connectors, so I'm wondering if the issue is with the PSU. It's surprising that such a high-rated PSU could fail like this. If it is the PSU, how likely is it that it damaged other components? I've ordered a new PSU and it'll arrive tomorrow, but I'm really worried.

I had a similar issue with my PSU. It just cut out one day after several years, and like you, only the motherboard lights were coming on. Luckily, once I replaced it, everything else was fine. There's a chance it could be your PSU and not other components, but it's good that you've already ordered a new one. Just make sure to check everything once you replace it!
It might be a melted GPU power cable. Swapping GPUs could help you diagnose the issue. A 1200W PSU failing in under a year is pretty rare, unless it was receiving dirty power or there's a manufacturing defect. Let's hope it's just a simple fix!
