Why Won’t My PC Recognize Windows After Upgrading the CPU and Motherboard?

I recently upgraded my PC with a new CPU and motherboard, but now it won't boot past the BIOS screen. I've double-checked all the SSD connections, and they show up in BIOS, but my system doesn't seem to recognize Windows. I've even tried unplugging the other drives that don't have Windows on them, but it still isn't working. Is there a way to fix this issue without having to reinstall Windows?

Sounds like you might be running into a drive compatibility issue. How many drives did you have in your old setup? Also, make sure that the SSD with Windows is properly connected to the new motherboard. If it’s an NVMe drive, it might not be showing up with the old connections. Just a thought!

I had three SSDs, all SATA, and I’m pretty sure one had Windows since the previous owner labeled it. I tried booting with each SSD separately, but no luck.
