Why Won’t My PC Turn On After Hearing a “Pop” Sound?

I'm pretty new to computers, so I need an easy explanation. My PC just stopped turning on after I heard a "pop" sound. I looked it up, and some sources suggest it might be a damaged capacitor or a power supply issue. I checked the capacitors on the motherboard, and they seem okay—no burnt smell either. Could the pop be related to the power supply?

From what you've described, it's probable that your power supply has failed. If there's no response from the PC—no lights, sounds, or fans spinning—it strongly points to the PSU being the issue.

When you hear a pop, it usually indicates that something has gone wrong. It definitely sounds like it could be an issue with your power supply. I recommend taking it to a technician for a proper diagnosis.

Do you notice any lights on the motherboard when you try to power it up? If not, the power supply is likely the main problem. If you could share your PC specs, especially the wattage of your power supply, that might help.

Definitely sounds like the power supply is done for. If you're not seeing any signs of life at all, the PSU is probably shot.
