Will a 1000W PSU be enough for a 5090 and 9800X3D?

I'm thinking about upgrading my setup from a Core i7-13700KF and a Radeon 6950 XT. I already have a Corsair HX1000i that is 1000W and 80+ Platinum certified, which I believe is a high-quality PSU from 2022. To be safe, I'm also planning to undervolt the 5090 to lower the risk of connector issues. Do you think my 1000W PSU will be sufficient for this new build?

Absolutely, NVIDIA suggests a 1000W PSU for the 5090, so you're in good shape. I recommend undervolting the 5090 as well to help minimize power draw and temperatures. This is really important, especially if you're not using an ATX 3.1 PSU with its dedicated 12v2x6 cable, which could lead to melting connectors. You can find useful guides online for undervolting your card.

Thanks for that info! I've heard that undervolting can maintain around 97% of the GPU's performance while reducing the risk of overheating. I’ll definitely look into it if I decide to get the 5090, but I'm still on the fence because of the cost.
