Will a 5060 Ti Work with My Current PC Setup?

Hey everyone! I'm looking to upgrade my PC since I have a solid CPU, the R7 5700X3D, and a decent GPU, the RTX 2060 Super, but I'm not sure about my motherboard. It's a bit outdated, the B450M DS3H. I'm considering upgrading my GPU to a 5060 Ti (8GB) since I mainly play at 1080p, but I'm unsure if it will be compatible given my motherboard's PCI slots. Any advice from you PC wizards would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

Yes, the 5060 Ti will work with your setup, but you could be running into a bottleneck since it uses PCIe 5.0 while your motherboard likely has PCIe 3.0. That can slow down performance since the newer card won't operate at its full potential.

You might want to consider getting an older GPU like the 6700 XT or 6800. They're both fantastic options for gaming at 1080p and might be easier to integrate with your current setup.

I actually have the budget for a newer one, so I'm hoping to avoid another upgrade soon!

I think your motherboard is where the real issue lies. It's not meeting the specs you'd want. You should look into getting a better motherboard that supports PCIe 4.0. While PCIe slots are backward compatible, a PCIe 4.0 or 5.0 GPU in a PCIe 3.0 slot will not perform at its best. Upgrading the motherboard ensures the GPU can run at full speed, which will be crucial if you decide to get a PCIe 5.0 in the future.

Thanks! But how much slower are we talking about? Is it just a drop in performance, or does it affect download speeds too?
