Hey everyone! I've been exploring Linux, specifically Fedora KDE, and I really want to get into gaming. However, I discovered that Vulkan isn't supported on my system. I use Bottles to run games, and I'm considering switching to a Windows LTSC version instead. Do you think I would have better gaming performance on Windows? Just looking for some clarity on whether it's worth making the jump or if I can still have a good experience on Linux without Vulkan support.

Can you share your system specs? You should run ‘vkcube’ in your terminal to check if Vulkan is working. But typically, Windows tends to perform better in games. Sometimes it's close, but other times Proton (the compatibility layer for running Windows games on Linux) can do a better job, depending on the game. It really varies!
Just to add to that, I checked your specs—an Intel i3-2300M and 6GB RAM with integrated graphics. That's pretty dated, and Vulkan indeed needs at least a 6th gen processor. If you've found games not launching because of Vulkan support, then yes, your switch to Linux may not provide the performance boost you hoped for, particularly for older titles. You might find better results switching back to Windows.
I just set up Windows 10 LTSC on a flash drive for gaming too! If you can, having a Windows installation on a separate partition or drive is definitely the way to go. It saves you tons of hassle and avoids the headache of managing dependencies on Linux to run specific games.
