Will Intel Release a New GPU for the LGA 1851 Socket?

Hey everyone! So, I'm in a bit of a situation. I've been wanting to build my first PC for a while now, and my wife surprised me with an Intel LGA 1851 motherboard, not realizing I was leaning towards AMD. I appreciate the gift and don't want to return it, so I'm rolling with Intel! I was checking out the Ultra 7 but I'm hoping for something that can stack up to the performance of the 14900K. Is there any news about Intel releasing a better GPU for that socket? Oh, and sorry for the confusion earlier—autocorrect switched CPU to GPU!

Don't sweat it! There's really not a huge gap between Intel and AMD now. The Core Ultra 9 285K is your best bet in the current lineup, but the 14900K is still the top dog at Intel. Just build your rig and enjoy it! Forget about the ‘team’ debates.

Typically, Intel CPU sockets are used for about two generations, but LGA 1851 is being phased out after two already. You might want to think about returning the motherboard while explaining it to your wife—it happens! Just be ready for her reaction; the couch might be your temporary home if she’s not on board with it!

Intel is planning to release a refresh later this year; however, it seems like it's just going to be a minor clock speed boost and not much else. They’re shifting gears next year for a new socket altogether.

The 285K is the equivalent of the 14900K in the Arrow Lake lineup. There's one more batch of chips coming out later this year for that socket, but it's the last release expected, so keep an eye out for updates in the coming weeks!
