Hey everyone! I'm currently rocking a Ryzen 5800X, a 3070 Ti, and 32GB of RAM. I'm running into VRAM issues while playing MSFS2024, so I'm thinking about upgrading to a 5070 Ti. My question is, if I make this upgrade, will my 5800X be a bottleneck in CPU-heavy scenes? I'd love to hear your thoughts. Thanks!

Yes, your 5800X might be a bottleneck depending on the scenario. A bottleneck is basically the slowest part of your system, and while you can't get rid of one entirely, you can shift it around. Since you're considering the 5070 Ti, it’s important to check benchmarks of MSFS2024 with your current setup to see what performance you can expect. You might find useful information on YouTube where others have tested similar configurations.
It really depends on the game and your resolution settings. Generally, the 5800X should be able to keep pace with the 5070 Ti at 1440p, even if it might lose some frames compared to a higher-end CPU.
I have a Ryzen 7 5800X3D paired with an RTX 4080 (which is around the same performance level as the 5070 Ti), and I don't experience any bottleneck at 1440p. While the 5800X3D isn't available, looking into upgrading to a Ryzen 7 5700X3D could help minimize any bottleneck you might face with the 5070 Ti. Just keep in mind that at some point, you might want to upgrade both the CPU and GPU for better overall performance.
When I'm flying out of CPU-heavy areas like JFK, I often drop to 5-10 FPS. It might be more about my VRAM limitations than the CPU. If the 5800X is the bottleneck with a 5070 Ti, I doubt I'd see better than 10 FPS, right?
