I've got an old iPhone 13 that's seen better days—it's got some major cracks and the battery health is warning me that it's time for a service. Ever since that first crack, I've been pretty careless with it, leading to even more drops. Lately, it's been overheating like crazy; even just scrolling through social media makes it hot. Charging it is almost a joke because it heats up so much that it slows down the charging process. This is especially frustrating when I'm outside and need to charge it. It's so hot that it's practically unusable. I don't think it's worth getting an official repair given its age, but since I still use it as a backup, I'm considering buying a new battery and screen from iFixit to replace them myself. My big concern is whether these replacements will actually help with the overheating. If not, I'd rather just deal with it as is.

It's possible that the overheating could be due to general wear and tear, or maybe there's a deeper issue like something broken on the motherboard. Replacing the battery and screen might help, but if there's underlying damage, that could still cause problems.
Could water damage from steam be a factor? I sometimes take my phone into the shower even with the cracks.
