Will Switching to Linux Mint Improve My Gaming Performance?

I'm about to make the jump from Windows 11 to Linux Mint Cinnamon on my laptop, which has an AMD Ryzen 3 3300U processor, 12 GB of RAM, and a 64-bit OS. I've been casual gaming with titles like CS:GO, GTA V, and Fortnite, but since upgrading to Windows 11, my performance has dropped significantly. I'm curious if moving to Linux might give me a performance boost in gaming, especially since I'm new to this and might have some basic questions. Any advice?

You'll likely see better performance on Linux compared to Windows 11 since Linux is less resource-intensive. You should be fine with playing CS:GO and singleplayer GTA V on Linux. However, for Fortnite, it's usually a no-go because of its anti-cheat system that doesn’t work on Linux.

Switching to Linux can improve performance, especially with a desktop environment that's lightweight. However, you might have to use game streaming services like GeForce Now for some online games like Fortnite, since their anti-cheat doesn’t play nice with Linux. Just keep in mind you may have to let go of certain games.

Yeah, I'm okay with dropping Fortnite; it was more of an example for the types of games I’ve played.
