Will Upgrading My Graphics Card Cause CPU Bottleneck Issues?

I'm currently using a GTX 1080ti paired with an Intel i7 8086k processor. I'm considering upgrading to a 5070ti graphics card but I'm concerned about whether my CPU will bottleneck the performance. Do I need to think about upgrading my CPU at the same time?

At 1440p and below, yes, you’re likely to face some bottlenecks. The situation might be better at 4K, but it'd still depend on what games you're playing.

Since your CPU is 7 years old, it will likely hold back your performance quite a bit. If you're thinking about a new build, I'd recommend going for the AM5 platform for future upgrade options.

It’s important to consider that the 8th generation Intel CPUs are quite dated. In many games, you'll be running into CPU limitations. Also, think about your RAM and Power Supply – those might need upgrades, too!

You probably will experience some bottlenecking. It’s tough to say exactly without testing it first, but keep in mind that even a basic modern CPU would outperform yours by a good margin.

Yes, there's a strong chance your CPU will bottleneck the new GPU since it's a bit older now. Upgrading would help, especially if you're looking to get more performance out of your system.
