I'm considering switching to Linux Mint and during the installation process, I was prompted to wipe my disk. I'm wondering if this action will impact my hardware drivers, specifically for my GPU and CPU. I recently built my PC about 4 months ago, so I'm curious about any potential effects.

Linux is a completely different operating system compared to Windows, which means it won't use the same drivers or software. When you wipe your disk, you'll erase everything, so make sure to back up any important data first. Your hardware drivers will need to be reinstalled since wiping the disk will remove them, but don’t worry; you can easily download updated drivers for your GPU and CPU after installing Linux Mint.

Just to clarify, yes, wiping your disk will erase all your personal files and all drivers you've installed on Windows. However, when you install Linux, you should be able to find and install the necessary drivers for your hardware afterward. It's usually best to set up Linux on computers that support it natively; that way, driver installation tends to be smoother. Good luck with the switch!
