Windows 10 Update Wrecked My SSD: What Can I Do?

Hey everyone, I'm dealing with a tough situation here. I had a Kingston SSD that was running Windows 10 without any issues until I was forced to update. After the update, my PC just wouldn't boot. I kept getting blue screens or getting stuck in disk check loops. I tried all the recovery options like Startup Repair, uninstalling the update, and even system restore, but none of them worked. Eventually, I created a new USB installer and tried repairing, but everything still failed. In the end, I installed Windows fresh on a new SSD, which works perfectly, but now my old Kingston SSD is basically unusable. It has lots of corrupted sectors and I lost some personal data in the process. Has anyone experienced something similar? Are there any other ways I could potentially recover my data from that SSD?

It sounds like your SSD was probably failing already, and the update just coincided with that. SSDs can fail for a ton of reasons, and the update itself didn't break it. It’s important to remember that these drives have a lifespan, and sometimes they just quit unexpectedly. Sorry to hear you lost data though!

Thanks for that insight, it's easy to blame the update. I just wish I had known sooner about the failing SSD!
