Windows 11 Install Fails at 34% on New Build – Need Help!

I'm having a frustrating issue with my new AM5 build where the Windows 11 installation consistently fails at exactly 34%. I've been thorough in my troubleshooting: I've tested two different RAM kits, cleared the CMOS, updated the BIOS, and wiped the SSD completely. I used both the Windows Media Creation Tool and Rufus to create my installation media, but the failure keeps happening every time. Here's a quick rundown of my setup:

- **CPU:** Ryzen 9 7950X3D (I have a second identical CPU sealed)
- **Motherboard:** Gigabyte B650 AORUS Elite AX (latest BIOS)
- **GPU:** PNY RTX 4090
- **PSU:** Seasonic GX-1000
- **SSD:** IngSpec XG7000 4TB NVMe Gen4

I've tried different configurations, including using a single DIMM in A2 and tweaking settings. The issue is repeatable, going from failing around 15% to consistently failing at 34%. ChatGPT suggested it might be a CPU IMC problem and recommended an RMA. Before I go ahead with that, I wanted to ask:
- Should I test the second sealed 7950X3D I have before contacting AMD?
- Are there specific logs or tools in Windows Setup that could help pinpoint whether it's the CPU or motherboard?
- Would testing a different NVMe drive be advisable, or does this behavior indicate a memory or IMC issue? Thanks for any help! This is my first build in quite some time.

It sounds like your NVMe SSD might be the culprit here. Have you thought about trying to install Windows on a different drive, like a SATA SSD or HDD? This could help narrow down the cause of the failure since it seems odd that it's failing in such a consistent manner at 34%. Usually, issues with CPU or RAM produce more random failures.

Smart idea! I do have a spare SATA HDD; I just need to grab a cable for it. I'll give that a shot!

Just for clarity, what do you mean by the installation fails? Does it give you an error message, or does something else happen? Just curious about the exact behavior you're encountering.

The error message I see is 'Windows 11 installation has failed.'

If it were me, the first thing I would try is swapping out for a new M.2 NVMe drive. Sometimes, even a drive that seems fine can act up during installs.

Good suggestion! I actually have another one of the same model arriving Friday for a friend's build, but I could try that if the SATA doesn't work.
