Windows 11 Stuttering When Resizing Discord on Dual Monitors

I'm experiencing a weird issue on Windows 11 where Discord stutters or freezes temporarily when I resize or move the window. This started happening after I replaced my older monitor with a new MSI MD272QXPW (2560x1440 at 100Hz), while my primary monitor is set to 2560x1440 at 180Hz. I also recently updated to the Windows update "KB5074105" right before making these changes. My specs include an Intel i9 9900k, a brand new NVIDIA 5070 graphics card (which works great in games), and I have 16GB of RAM. The stutter only occurs with Discord; other applications resize without any issues. I've already tried a clean reinstall of Discord, disabling hardware acceleration, using different cables, changing refresh rates, and disabling overlays, but the problem persists. Has anyone else encountered this?

Have you checked the NVIDIA Control Panel settings? Sometimes tweaking the options there can help with performance issues. Try looking for the "Disable desktop composition" option or changing the preferred GPU for Discord if available. It might also be worth resetting the settings to default and then readjusting them as necessary.

Thanks for the suggestion! I’ll definitely give that a try. Just wondering, do you think it could indicate an issue with my new GPU since the problem only happens in Discord?

Not necessarily. Since games run fine, it might just be a Discord-specific issue with dual monitor setups. Still worth troubleshooting though!

This might sound simple, but ensure that Discord isn’t using hardware acceleration. You mentioned you tried turning it off, but it can sometimes revert back. Also, try running Discord in compatibility mode for Windows 10. Some users have found that helps with stuttering issues on newer systems.

I did turn off hardware acceleration, but I’ll check the mode compatibility to see if that makes a difference. Thanks!

No problem! Let me know if that works out for you.
