Would Installing Linux on My Dual-Screen Laptop Be Complicated?

Hey everyone! I'm thinking about installing Linux on one of my old laptops, specifically an ASUS Zephyrus Duo SE 15. It's got some decent specs with a Ryzen 9 5900HX, an RTX 3080, and 32 GB of RAM. The unique part is that it has two separate screens. I'm curious if this dual-screen setup would pose any challenges during the Linux installation process. I haven't installed anything yet since I'm new to this. Any thoughts or advice?

What Linux distribution are you planning to try? It sounds like you may just need to adjust some settings if something goes wrong; shouldn't be too bad!

I found a discussion on similar laptops that might help. If the second screen is recognized as another monitor by Linux, it should work fine. Here's the link to the thread I came across: [similar laptops discussion](https://www.reddit.com/r/linuxhardware/comments/z2wmik/linux_compatibility_of_dualscreen_laptops_like/). I hope this helps!

You can actually test Linux without committing to an installation first. Just boot up something like Fedora and see if both screens work properly. Both Fedora's Workstation edition and KDE are great options; it just depends on what interface you find more appealing. This way, you can check how the hardware like Wi-Fi performs before fully installing it.

A simple way to check compatibility is to boot from a Linux Mint USB drive. This will let you test everything out without making changes to your existing system. It's a solid way to see how it handles.

Using a live ISO to boot from (ventoy is a good option) will let you explore without needing to actually install anything yet. Just check how everything displays.
