What’s a reasonable cost for a small business website?

I've been using Wix for my small business website, but I'm ready for an upgrade to something more modern and SEO-friendly. I've received quotes from agencies ranging from $1,000 to $4,000 per month, which seems high to me. Is this the norm? If anyone has recently paid a flat rate for a website, what was the typical price range? Also, are there any key features or things I should consider? I'm also contemplating using a different website builder. Any suggestions?

I felt the same way when I was quoted $3K per month! I managed to find a service called Durable that ended up being way cheaper and still helped me improve my local SEO ranking. Hosting it myself made a big difference!

It's tough to give a solid answer without knowing your business size. Those monthly fees might be justified if you have a lot of traffic, but most small businesses wouldn't need to pay that much. A little more info might help!

$1-4K per month? If that's the price in your area, it might be overkill! There are options abroad where you can get a website created for much less—like for as low as $30 if you're willing to look at freelancers from places like India or Turkey!

What exactly do you mean by 'SEO-friendly'? Wix has built-in SEO tools, so I'd love to know what you're looking for that it doesn't provide!

If Wix isn’t working for you anymore, other drag-and-drop builders might not cut it either. I’d steer clear of GoDaddy’s builder; it’s pretty frustrating. You could explore custom options with WordPress instead—it's user-friendly and offers more control. By the way, if you want some quick feedback on your site, check out layzr.ai for a free SEO audit! Wow, $1-4K per month is a bit outrageous, especially if you're only looking for a basic brochure site. Typically, you might pay that much as a one-time development fee for a solid website, but not monthly. Just make sure you have total control of where your site's code is hosted and deployed. Websites like Netlify or Vercel are great options. As long as you have access to the repository and domain management, you should be good to go! Good luck with the upgrade!
